Welcome & Enjoy!

Oil Paint is my medium...

My paintings translate shadow, light and vivid color found in nature into landscapes and still lifes layered with subtlety and depth.

Surrounded by family members who placed a high value on artistic expression, including a great aunt who advocated color-composed meals, I was bound to pursue a career in the visual arts.  After receiving a BFA in design from Alma College in my native Michigan, I moved to Chicago to work as an Art Director for Frankel & Company and then later worked for many years as a Creative Director for Simon Marketing in Oakbrook, IL.  Adding to my professional mix, I taught design at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Today I live and paint in Traverse City, Michigan, where I am an active participant in the rich local arts community. My Oil paintings can be found in several northern Michigan Galleries including Synchronicity Gallery in Glen Arbor, Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City, and Tinker Studio on Old Mission Peninsula. I participate in solo and group shows both near and far. I enjoy getting out into nature to paint plein-air whenever I can!

NATURE

Colorful fruit & flowers...

Captivated by the vibrant orchards, hiking trails, lakes, rivers and splendid skies all around, I often choose to express their beauty in my paintings.

SUN & SNOW

Sunlit skies & snowy paths...

Breathe it in...the beauty of fall & winter in the north woods!

My art studio is my preferred choice to paint from the many photos I take. I painted the stone wall view, below, in plein -air.

RICH COLOR

A constantly changing landscape...

Spring, summer falll & winter... A jeweled and lush landscape is both my subject and pallette.

Mini Paintings from my travels...

These small paintings are fun to paint and feel satisfying arranged in a grouping on a wall.

My small 6" x 6" paintings, shown here, were painted from photos I took on a recent trip to Ireland.

The colorful houses and lush landscapes were a delight for my eyes!
